Early History Continued

On October 1, 1964, an agreement of sale for the present property of the Blue Lakes Country Club, Inc. was concluded by Jack Claiborne, President of the Club and sellers Burton Perrine Jr. and Emerald Perrine. The price $60,000.00. The property purchased is east of the road running to Alpheus Creek Bridge. From the Bridge all land east of the creek with the exception of the grave site of the Perrines' is club property. The eastern boundary is approximately a line running north and south at the eastern edge of Bass Lake.

On May 12, 1967 Vern Riddle, President, assisted by Jack Claiborne, bought from the State of Idaho all canyon land east to the Perrine Bridge for the sum of $1,375.00.

In October 1960 a fire completely destroyed the original clubhouse. Unfortunately the facility was only insured for $95,000.00, which was far below its then fair market value.

The club members at the time saw a definite need to expedite construction of a new clubhouse facility. Through the dedicated efforts of Voy Hudson, John Robertson, and Gordon Edgar, the present clubhouse facility was designed and built in only 160 days for a cost of approximately $180,000.00. During this construction period, the club activities were operated out of what is now the equipment building.
